The initial request was for an acrylic case that would contain water (or resin, cast to look like water) that the speaker could be placed into. However, with weight and production concerned, Monster quickly asked for more design options.
Seeking to capture the idea of 'metaphorical' water while still being in-your-face, I developed a number of designs, the accepted one being the final production design almost exactly. With laser-cut acrylic to play with store lighting and an in-your-face design that burst over the edge of the display, the accepted initial conceptual model was good to go!
After the design was accepted, a number of tweaks were made to the model, and a line of high-fidelity and functional prototypes were created by our team. I also put together the finalized graphics and instructions for prototype and final display assembly, which were sent out with each unit to ensure they functioned properly.
